Members will be notified of any change in the membership rate on their invoice or by their subscription service agent.

***List of member institutions***

--- If your institution is not a member and you are interested in becoming one, please fill out this Membership Inquiry form
--- If your institution is already a member and you would like to join the E-list, please fill out this E-list Sign Up form

All librarians and staff affiliated with a LOEX member library are invited to join the LOEX E-List in order to receive LOEX Currents (our monthly current awareness e-newsletter) and notification of the PDF posting of our journal publication, LOEX Quarterly. If you are not sure your library is a LOEX member, and can't find your institution on the list of member institutions, please e-mail us for verification. If your library is a member, we will add you manually to the LOEX e-distribution list.

If your institution is a member of LOEX, you receive access to the following (or with the conferences, reduced registration rates):

LOEX Currents

Our monthly current awareness service (published September through May, along with an occasional Summer issue) is available to all individuals at member libraries who sign up for the LOEX E-list. It includes news bites, announcements and other time-sensitive information such as job postings, of interest to those engaged in instruction and information literacy efforts.

If you would like to have a job posted in Currents, email the info, in the format of the example below, along with a link to the job posting:
- MI (Detroit) - College of St. Thomas - Outreach and Engagement Librarian - First review date is December 18, 2025.

LOEX Quarterly

Our substantive publication has four issues published per year. It includes practical articles on library instruction and information literacy as well as reports on instruction and information literacy initiatives around the world. The Quarterly also features its regular columns: "News from the LOEX Office", "Book Review", "TechMatters", and "The Quarterly Interview." Individuals at member libraries may receive notification the electronic version of the Quarterly by request.

If your institution is a member and you would like IP address authentication for viewing the latest four issues of the Quarterly, please email your range(s).

LOEX Conferences

- LOEX sponsors a national conference each spring. LOEX conferences are often hosted by member libraries throughout the United States. These conferences, which focus on practical applications in instruction and information literacy, give attendees opportunities to meet colleagues, learn about successful programs and regain their momentum. Librarians at member institutions are given priority registration for LOEX conferences.

After each spring conference, LOEX members receive online access to certain slidecast recordings from the conference (in the fall, after the live sessions occur in May) and the conference proceedings (by the end of the calendar year).

- In addition to the spring conference, LOEX every other fall offers an online conference called the Fall Focus conference. First offered in-person in 2015 (and focused on the recently released ACRL Framework for Information Literacy), it was reimagined in 2023 to be an online conference in order to provide a low-cost, higher access opportunity for librarians. However, like its predecessor, it is still focused on just two or three areas (e.g., 1) Artificial Intelligence and 2) Sense of Belonging), as opposed to the spring LOEX conference which is much bigger & broader as it covers anything & everything that has to do with library instruction and information literacy.

After each Fall Focus conference, LOEX members who did not attend the conference will receive access to a selection of slidecast recordings a month or two after the conference. There are no proceedings for this fall conference.

LOEX Community Events

- Community Conversations

In an effort to provide more opportunities for instruction librarians to connect with each other, LOEX is now offering “community conversations” for its members a few times a year. Topics will be selected based on topicality and general interest (e.g., how many people attended a roundtable on a similar topic at a recent LOEX conference).

These one-hour sessions will be held online, via Zoom. The meeting will start with a five-minute introduction by the main host (e.g., the LOEX Director), followed by randomly assigning people into Zoom breakout rooms of no more than ten people. There will typically be 5-6 rooms, and each will have a LOEX volunteer moderator to guide the discussion and also take high-level notes; none of the discussions will be recorded.

All those on the LOEX E-list will be notified about a month ahead of time the date and topic of the next Conversation. Registration will be required, as capacity constraints are necessary to make sure we do not have too many people for a worthwhile, manageable discussion. Registration is free for all LOEX members (and only LOEX members may sign up, again due to capacity constraints).

- Coming Soon!

LOEX will be adding another online community event in 2026, to enable people to connect with more librarians in their personal and professional development, so watch this space and the Currents for an announcements.

Borrowing Privileges

Based on the virtual lack of requests from members since 2005, LOEX no longer distributes physical materials, such as video tapes, flyers, handbooks and similar materials, This print/media collection is also now closed in terms of new acquisitions. If a member has a question about the collection, please contact the LOEX Director.
